Angie Sanders, DVM

Companion Animal Hospital of Lafayette is owned and operated by Dr. Angie Sanders, DVM.

Dr. Angie’s life began in Baton Rouge, Louisiana, and enjoyed growing up in a very large family. She discovered her love of Veterinary Medicine at a very young age, beginning with volunteer work at the age of 12, at Old Hammond Veterinary Hospital in Baton Rouge. These steps led to Dr. Angie working in the hospital as a veterinary technician, starting in high school through her first year of Veterinary School. This experience only solidified her desire to become a Veterinarian, with a focus on the human-animal bond.

Knowing that she had determined her passion in Veterinary Medicine, Dr. Angie began her college career at Louisiana State University in Baton Rouge, Louisiana in 1997, completing those studies in 1999, with early enrollment acceptance to LSU School of Veterinary Medicine. During that time, Dr. Angie took great interest in developing her veterinary skills, making lifelong friends and continuing to serve the veterinary community. She received the Nestle Purina Leadership Award before graduating in 2003 with her Doctor of Veterinary Medicine.

Upon graduation, and after considering many career opportunities across the country, Dr. Angie chose to become an Associate Veterinarian at Doiron-Plauche Veterinary Hospital in Lafayette, Louisiana. Under the mentorship of Drs. Doiron and Plauche and that hospital’s direction to provide the highest quality medicine to the much-loved patients of the hospital, Dr. Angie began a career that only strengthened her passion for her profession.

For the past 18 years, Dr. Angie has continued to practice in Lafayette, Louisiana. From those early days, she has established life-long relationships with both her patients and their loving owners, developed professional relationships with the various Veterinarians in the local, state and national communities, mentored in-coming Veterinarians, nurses and support staff, and provided her leadership skills to the students from various Veterinary Medicine schools in the completion of their clinical studies. Dr. Angie is a past President and a current member of the Acadiana Area Veterinary Association, the Louisiana Veterinary Medical Association, and the American Academy of Feline Practitioners and strongly believes in the importance of continuing education.
