Meet Angie Sanders, DVM

Companion Animal Hospital of Lafayette is owned and operated by Angie Sanders, DVM.

Dr. Angie’s life began in Baton Rouge, Louisiana. She discovered her love of Veterinary Medicine at the young age of 12, at Old Hammond Veterinary Hospital in Baton Rouge. These steps led to Dr. Angie working in the hospital as a veterinary technician, working in high school all the way through her first year of Veterinary School. This experience only solidified her desire to focus on the human-animal bond.

Knowing that she had determined her passion in Veterinary Medicine, Dr. Angie began her college career at Louisiana State University in Baton Rouge, Louisiana in 1997, completing those studies in 1999, with early enrollment acceptance to LSU School of Veterinary Medicine.

During that time, Dr. Angie took great interest in developing her veterinary skills, making lifelong friends and continuing to serve the veterinary community. She received the Nestle Purina Leadership Award before graduating in 2003 with her Doctor of Veterinary Medicine.

Upon graduation, and after considering many career opportunities across the country, Dr. Angie chose to become an Associate Veterinarian at Doiron-Plauche Veterinary Hospital in Lafayette, Louisiana. Through the mentorship she received and following the hospital’s core belief to provide the highest quality medicine, she began a career that only strengthened her passion for her profession.

Since 2003 she has been able to create a foundation of relationships not only with her patients and their loving owners, but also with veterinary professionals across the state. She takes pride in mentoring and sharing her leadership skills with veterinary students, as well as support staff in order to better the profession and community. Dr. Angie is a past President and a current member of the Acadiana Area Veterinary Association, and the American Academy of Feline Practitioners and is currently enrolled to become certified as a Fear Free Veterinary Professional.

With a dream of always wanting to own a practice, Dr. Angie is very excited to create, build and share her unique and personal approach to Veterinary Medicine with the Acadiana community!

Dr. Angie has special interests in internal medicine and geriatric care, dentistry, feline behavior medicine, and comorbidity management and treatment and she strives to provide a more comprehensive and individualized treatment plan for each patient. Her past experiences, deep appreciation of the connection between the pet and their owner and a desire to create a truly unique experience within her practice have culminated to what is the culture of Companion Animal Hospital of Lafayette. Dr. Angie’s passion for continuous learning of the advancements in veterinary medicine is equally met with her dedication to foster the unique human-animal bonds she witnesses daily.

Dr. Angie is blessed with her husband, Travis Frank, of 19 years, and 3 beautiful children, Anderson, Hudson, and Ainsley. She is also a full time parent to 2 dogs (Brother, Addie), 4 cats, and a bearded dragon. Her hobbies outside of work include running, traveling and goofing off with her family, and, on occasion, indulging in forensic documentaries.
